Scheduled by the Theatre du Chatelet , this opera in 55 acts, which recounts the love story between Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei, has been adapted by Tamasaburo Bando resulting in a considerably shorter 3-act version. However, it is enough to capture the power of this masterful work, which is based around 6 scenes: the Walk, the Dream, the Portrait, Death, Memory and Renaissance.
