Django Reinhardt bringing swing to the Cité de la Musique!

Django Reinhardt
Django Reinhardt, the most famous guitarist from the world of jazz manouche, or gypsy jazz, is at the heart of an amazing exhibition being held in Paris until 13th January. Django Reinhardt, le Swing de Paris is the first major retrospective devoted to the musician since his death in 1953. Come and discover it when you next stay at the Hôtel d’Aubusson!

Django Reinhardt, an incredible career

The exceptional career of Django Reinhardt justifies such an event. The first non-American great soloist in the history of jazz may have died at the age of 43, but he nevertheless managed to leave his mark on his era and on music history! Every facet of this genius artist, credited with popularising jazz manouche, is evoked through this exhibition staged by the Cité de la Musique.
The visit, interspersed with sound extracts, tells the story of Django Reinhardt’s American adventure, the way in which he paid tribute to the Romani people, how he brought swing to wartime France and the incredible Selmer Maccaferri guitar, inextricably linked to his music.
