Last few days! Cité de l’Architecture pays homage to the Hôtel Particulier – Hotel d’Aubusson Paris

A few days left to go and see the beautiful exhibition L’Hôtel Particulier, une ambition parisienne, until February 19th 2012 at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris.

Exposition L'Hôtel particulier, une ambition parisienne - Paris

Hôtel particulier, an emblematic bourgeois habitat of Paris

Visitors can dive into the heart of Paris’ past.

The first part of the exhibition takes you on a tour of a small, faithfully reconstructed and decorated mansion between the courtyard and garden. This realistic home helps you imagine how life was back then with its layout, equipment and practical aspects.

The second part of the journey takes you around large models of well-known mansions (hôtels particuliers) chosen for their signature features such as Hôtel de Cluny, Hôtel Lambert and the Palais-Rose. These models are displayed in chronological order and provide a fascinating insight into mansions at different periods between the middle ages and the Belle Époque.

The final part of the visit includes reading material about the buildings as architectural works, both inside and outside, and the layout of their charming feature gardens.
